Dr. Filippi graduated in
October 1982 with honors (Cum Laude), from the
oldest and largest chiropractic college in the
world, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport
Iowa. Established in 1895, Palmer has graduated
more doctors of chiropractic than any other college
in the world. www.palmer.edu
Upon graduation, Dr. Filippi
returned to his native California to work as an
associate for his chiropractor in Santa Clara
from 1982 to 1984. In 1984 he returned to his
hometown of Redwood City to begin private practice
and opened Sequoia Chiropractic Clinic on February
25, 1985.
The
focus of his clinic is to dramatically improve
the lives of patients suffering with acute or
chronic pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction by
offering natural alternatives whenever possible.
Dr. Filippi was first exposed to chiropractic
in the late 60’s as a youngster suffering
from headaches during swimming lessons. A trip
to his family’s doctor of chiropractic cleared
up the issue until 1975 when, as a high school
student (at Sequoia High), he encountered a return
of the headaches. Seeking medical attention and
tests first, doctors discounted it as a growing
issue and that improvement would occur over time.
Blood thinning medication was recommended as an
alternative. Neither made sense to Dr. Filippi,
a biochemistry major, so he sought the assistance
of his mother’s doctor of chiropractic.
The problem was identified following an extensive
spinal exam and x-ray. It appeared that the act
of stomach sleeping over many years as a child
led to severe vertebral rotation causing nerve
pressure in the neck. Within 1 week after beginning
corrective adjustments the problem was gone. Dr.
Filippi has enjoyed the benefits of being under
regular chiropractic care ever since! After hearing
a prominent doctor of chiropractic speak in 1975,
he made a monumental career change by enrolling
at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport,
Iowa. The rest is history!
